November 2020 - Second Edition

It’s been almost three weeks since I officially joined the Solidarity Fund family and, I must admit, it’s been a busy time. I have met with the teams, spoken to the press, and spent time understanding the ins and outs of the important work that is being done.

November 2020 - First Edition

October 31st marked my last day as Interim CEO of the Solidarity Fund. When I was approached to get involved, South Africa was facing an uncertain year ahead. We all knew that COVID-19 would affect our country – we were already seeing its global impact – but we didn’t know to what extent.

October 2020 - Second Edition

Next month sees the start of the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign that runs between 25 November and 10 December. While this UN-backed campaign has made incredible headway in highlighting the problem, the battle against Gender-Based Violence must be fought 24/7/365, not just over 16 days.

October 2020 - First Edition

On the 16th of September, our President, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced that South Africa would be moving into Level 1 lockdown. For many businesses and individuals, this heralded the return to some form of normality – a sign that South Africa could start rebuilding after the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

September 2020 - Second Edition

On the 23rd of March, just over 6 months ago, the Solidarity Fund was created by our President, Cyril Ramaphosa. We were formed under unique and extreme conditions and in response to immediate concerns.

September 2020 - First Edition

There can be no doubt that the last few months have been a busy time for all involved in the Fund. We have no intention of slowing down, however. At our ongoing donor roundtables, we get the chance to engage directly with donors – giving personal feedback on our interventions and projects, and hearing, first-hand, their thoughts on our projects.
