Solidarity Fund Behavioural Response Report | Gender-Based Violence (GBV 1) Response

The Solidarity Fund has a clear mandate to support the national health response, contribute to humanitarian relief efforts and mobilise South Africans to unite in limiting the spread of COVID-19. As part of our efforts, we embarked on an initiative that was designed to be a rapid, targeted response to the increase in gender-based violence (GBV), a scourge that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 lockdown. This response was designed to provide support and aid to existing organisations with proven reach and the ability to have impact, but which were struggling to deal with the rise in cases of GBV.

Solidarity Fund Behavioural Response Report | LOUDHAILERS FOR COVID-19 MESSAGING

The Solidarity Fund has a clear mandate to support the national health response, contribute to humanitarian relief efforts and mobilise South Africans to unite in limiting the spread of COVID-19. As part of our efforts, we distributed branded loudhailers to traditional leaders for the effective delivery of COVID-19 messaging. The campaign was implemented across all nine provinces. Not only did it serve to educate citizens on COVID-19 protocols, but it also helped to promote positive behaviour change within rural communities.

Solidarity Fund Behavioural Response Report | RADIO CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF COVID-19 MESSAGING

Drawing on the reach of 15 commercial radio stations, with a collective audience of up to 33 million listeners, the campaign provided educational COVID-19 messaging to citizens across South Africa.

Solidarity Fund Humanitarian Response The Food Relief Programme Addendum

The Solidarity Fund has a clear mandate to support the national health response, contribute to humanitarian relief efforts and mobilize South Africans to drive a united response to Covid-19 through behavioral change initiatives. The Food Relief Programme was targeted at reaching the vulnerable households experiencing severe food insecurity during the lockdown period. Within the Food Relief Programme, the Fund entered into partnership with the SACC to provide food relief in the form of food vouchers to 23,500 Households.

The Creation and the Impact of the Citizens in Solidarity Campaign

The Solidarity Fund has a clear mandate to support the national health response, contribute to humanitarian relief efforts and mobilise South Africans to drive a united response to the COVID-19. The Campaign had two aspects namely the conceptualization and the impact of the campaign. The conceptualization part maps out how the campaign unfolded and managed to build the solidarity brand within 17 days. The Implementation part maps out how the campaign has managed to reach at least 28 million South Africans through various platforms to date, the bulk of which come from radio and TV campaigns.
